So, what's in the HypnoBirthing course?

HypnoBirthing® is an antenatal education course that will fully prepare you and your birthing partner for your birthing experience. 

I only teach Courses held in your own home as my experience has proven that that this is the most effective method whilst offering a flexible arrangement regarding days and times. The course covers the many and varied aspects of pregnancy and birth, including an understanding of the key physiological aspects. The course is taught by an experienced registered clinical Hypnotherapist so you get all the benefits of that therapy experience along with the ante natal education.

There are no gimmicks related to Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, just some simple skills anyone can learn and take forward during preganancy and as a valuable general life skill for the future.

Session 1: Introductions, and expectations. The physiology of labour - the structure of the uterus and how it works for you; birth hormones; the effect of fear and tension in labour (FTP); history of birthing & sociology; simply how hypnosis and the subconscious mind works; Conditioned responses in relation to birth; how deep relaxation helps birth preparation and the birth process.

Session 2: Getting ready for the birth; birth locations & care providers available on the NHS; birth choices; the birthing environment; relaxation routines & techniques; breathing techniques in labour; preparing the body for birth; light touch massage technique for labour; pregnancy exercises & toning.

Session 3: Birth preferences; writing the birth plan; optimal foetal positioning; special circumstances; natural v artificial induction of labour; how the body and mind prepares for birth; releasing negative emotions, fears & limiting thoughts.

Session 4: Visualising the actual birthing day; Onset of labour - the thinning & opening phase; preparing the birth environment; progression of labour; the important role of the birth companion; natural methods to restart stalled or slowed labour; communicating with the medical staff; advanced labour.: Hallmarks of labour; advanced labour & completion; birthing and third phase. Positioning & repositioning; birthing and afterwards.

The course consists of four classes amounting to a minimum of 12.5 hrs over a period 4 weeks - however some flexibility may be possible particualry if due to location.

You will receive all course materials including handouts, a CD and the HypnoBirthing book.

Full Course - 12.5 hours  over 4 sessions - £300 per couple (all materials incl) within a 20 mile radius of Inverurie (excess mileage charges apply beyond this).

Refresher Course - 1 x 2.5 hour session - £100 (within 20 mile radius of Inverurie, book/CD at extra cost if required).

£100 booking deposit (non refundable). Balance of payable at least 7 days prior to course commencement.
